Teaching Assistants (TAs)
Annika Emde

Hi everyone! My name is Annika, and I will be one of your Teaching Assistants for German this year! I am 22 years old and I am from Erlangen. I study English and American Studies and Book Science at FAU Erlangen and have just finished my third year of studies. I’m so happy that I’m able to study American Studies in the US! Additionally, I’m very excited to be your German TA and share my love of languages with you. Studying a new language is such a fascinating experience and I hope to make it as enjoyable for you as possible.
Apart from Uni, I am very active and often take my bike (which I will hopefully soon acquire) for a ride or to run errands. I also enjoy going to the gym a lot and spending time with my friends, of course. I love watching movies and going to the movies, especially during the upcoming colder months. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know you and spending the upcoming year with you!
Nike Pflüger

Hi! My name is Nike, I am 21 years old and I will be joining Kalamazoo College as a German Teaching Assistant this year. Currently, I am in my fourth semester studying psychology in Lüneburg in Northern Germany. I really enjoy learning languages, which is also why I decided to study my major in English. Furthermore, I was a tutor for first year students in my university which I enjoyed a lot and therefore I am really looking forward to work as a teaching assistant and meeting all of you!
Besides my studies, I like to meet with friends and enjoy being outside, doing sports or just drinking coffee in the sun. In addition, I am a member of the psychology student council where we plan events for all psychology majors. I have been to the US once to visit a friend but now I am excited to get to know a different part of the country and explore the nature in Michigan.
Jana Stankovic

Hi, I’m Jana and will be a German TA for the upcoming year at Kalamazoo College!
I’m 20 years old and currently study English and French at my hometown university in Erlangen to become a foreign language teacher. My love for languages was always a big part of me. I currently speak 6 different ones and am learning a 7th one at the moment. Since I’ve worked as a tutor and taught German before, I hope that I can help students at K College improve their skills through this TA job. I’m super excited to meet all of you very soon!
In my free time, I love cooking and baking. Discovering new dishes from various places around the world is super exciting for me and brings me lots of joy. Aside from that, I play tennis and video games which are things I’ve loved to do ever since I was a child. I’ve been to the US once a few years ago and am looking forward to coming back to see new sides of the country and to meet lots of great people! See you soon
